Replacing Relyon Venice pillowtop mattress

Hi again Lee.

I spent over £1000 on the last bed, so would not want to spend more this time around (it is grieving me greatly to have to get rid of a perfectly good mattress, but if I can't sleep on it, I can't sleep on it).

I checked the label again and the bed is Relyon: Pillow Top Collection 'Venice', no-turn mattress; 2262 pocketed springs, polycotton / lambswool / white fibre + rebound pad, wool tufts, 3 rows of hand stitched sides.

I actually ended up turning the mattress upside down so the pillow top is on the bottom, as I found sleeping on it to be too wrap-around which made me even hotter.

The only thing I would say, is that if you think the problem is me and that a new mattress would make no difference I would appreciate your honesty, because there is no point in replacing like for like.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi Mark, thanks for the detail.

I'm sorry we couldn't be more specific on how to get a cooler bed. It may be that the pillow top is causing you to sink in too much and you're getting too cocooned on it. That's my only real thought on why you're getting so hot. It has polycotton in which is a synthetic blend of cotton and polyester. This is warmer than say horse hair or cashmere, but again I couldn't say how much cooler you would be on a natural fibre, hence I'm not pushing a recommendation.

One piece of advice would be maybe to try out a guest house or friends house spare bed and see if that bed is any cooler, come back with the name and I can maybe work out a more tailored recommendation.

Sorry, I can't give you a definitive answer at this stage Mark.

Kind Regards

Lee
