Origins 1500 Single vs Origin 2000 Double / Artisans Naturals

We bought an origins pocket 1500 single for the spare room in jun 2014 (order 6146). Its certainly the most comfortable mattress we have ever had (we have both tried it). Its now time to replace our standard size double bed mattress (currently latex which is now does now support and gets hot). Given that I think double are meant to feel softer I am wondering about ordering the origins 2000 spring model in the double to get a similar feel to the single. I am around 18 stone and my wife is about 12-13 ish(it varies). Our aim would be to aim for the feel of the 1500 single that we both had experienced separately in the double. We could go to the artisan range (up to naturals) if really justified. Perhaps you could advise on the origins double 2000 vs 1500 vs options and spring tensions on the artisans naturals.

The level of springs detailed in the descriptions of any mattress is based upon a king size and are adjusted proportionally for all other sizes. Consequently, the number of springs in the single mattress and a double is less than 1500.

The Origins Pocket 1500 mattress is designed to provide a medium feel for people of between 10st and 17st and as such I am surprised that you find the single comfortable. For someone over 17st, we would normally suggest that they opt for the 2000 spring version as this will provide the extra support required, however, for someone of 12-13 st this is likely to feel too firm. We would not normally recommend the same tension/feel for people with your weight differential, however, if you both find the 1500 single comfortable, then you are likely to get the same feel from the same in a double. The 2000 spring option would provide too firm a feel for your wife and I would not recommend this.

As far as the Artisan range is concerned, because of the natural materials used in the upholstery, it would not be appropriate for you both to have the same tension and split tension mattresses are only available in king size and above. The suggested spring tension for you both would be a medium for your wife and a firm for you. I trust that this is of some assistance to you.
