matress recomendation?
hi,
I have been recommended your website by a friend...
When we moved into our current house, we got bought as a present by my partners parents.. a good quality wooden slatted bed base and mattress...
My partner likes a firm mattress, so she asked them for a firm one.. and she found it pretty comfortable,
I however nearly always sleep on my side, and was involved in a car accident which means I get pains in my shoulder and neck from the firm mattress..
So we bought an ikea mattress (medium I think) which was fine to begin with for a few months.. but has quickly worn out and is now way too soft and we both are in a lot of back / neck pain after sleeping on it..
So in summary..
My partner is about 9.5 stone.. sleeps on her side or front and prefers a firm mattress
I weigh just over 13 stone and sleep on my side and (I cannot sleep on my back..) and prefer a softer feel..
The firm mattresses my partner prefers (and that you tend to find in hotels etc..) I find way too hard and wake up with back / neck pain with pins and needles etc..
what would you recommend in a double size?
pricing wise i think we would be looking more to your mid / low range, as we have just had a baby and funds are a bit tight..
thanks in advance!
Hi Ian,
Our initial consideration when recommending a mattress is the body weights of the people using it. In your particular case, a medium tension would suit you and soft for your partner, however, I note she prefers a firmer feel.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
Mattresses in a one piece with a split tension are only available in king size and above, although I also note that you have a limited budget so would suggest that you look at the Origins Pocket 1500 in a double, which will provide you with a medium feel and a firmer feel for your partner.
The split tension products in the larger sizes are available in our Artisan range, but at present these may be out of reach financially. I trust that this helps. Kind regards.
