Suitable slatted mattress bases

Slatted bases are fine, providing you board over them if you're using them with a high-quality mattress. Given the fact hand-made quality mattresses are by their very nature heavier, as they contain more fillings than cheaper machine made mattresses, slatted bases can damage these mattresses as the weight of them makes them contort between the gaps in the slats.
