We have a table below showing the weights of all our mattresses; although small double is not mentioned, each model in a 4FT size is approximately 3-5kg lighter than the standard double.

In your particular case, we would suggest that you ought to be looking at a medium tension mattress with softer top layers so as not to aggravate your son's arthritis.

 

Please view the Origins Comfort 1000, which has a standard medium tension spring unit with softer upholstery layers, which we feel will be best suited to your son.
