These are needed for occasional use only as they will be in a guest bedroom. The base is slatted and measures 6'6 by 3'. The beds will be used by children and adults up to 14 stone.

Hi Jenny,

Thank you for your enquiry.

The mattresses that we would normally recommend for B&Bs and Guesthouses would be the Origins Pocket 1500 or Origins Pocket Reflex 1000.

The Origins Pocket 1500 is very much a true medium feeling model giving a slight sink but not too much whereas the Origins Pocket Reflex 1000 has a firmer upholstery. Whilst it is firmer we do get a lot of feedback that it's very comfortable but the upholstery also accommodates a wider range of body weights.

The size that you refer to is not a standard single, which is 3ft by 6ft 3in, in fact the size is the same size as a super king size Zip and Link set (2 x 3ft X 6ft 6in) so if you wanted the extra 3in in length you would be better just choosing the Super King Size Zip and Link set and just not zipping them.

The above mattresses can be used on a slatted base, however, we would advise placing a barrier, usually thin (3-5mm) MDF between the base and the mattress if the gaps are bigger than 3". This will provide the mattress with a uniform surface upon which to sit and prevent ridging occurring as a result of the mattress dipping into the gaps between the slats.

We would suggest that once you have viewed the above mattresses that you call our office on 0161 437 4419 to discuss your requirements in detail and obtain further clarification regarding the sizing.

Kind Regards, John and Ryan.
