Thanks for getting in touch about your 15 year old Vi-spring Glastonbury mattress. The Glastonbury has the following specification.

Mattress Springs 1.42mm* wire springs, 60mm in diameter, in individual sewn cotton calico pockets, hand formed into a honeycomb nested unit. Constructed with two layers of springs. Option of soft, medium or firm spring tensions. Cannot be offered as a combination mattress.

Mattress Border 23cm deep with three rows of genuine hand side-stitching. Horizontal handles – eight on 150cm sizes. Air vents on all sides. Border edges upholstered with protective lambswool. Finished with piped ticking.

Mattress Upholstery Upholstered with 1000 gsm bonded lambswool and cotton, overlaid with 1200 gsm of long-stranded horsehair and lambswool, enclosed in a hairproof cover and topped off with another 1200 gsm of blended lambswool and cotton.

Covered with the finest quality Belgian ticking – the standard is Leaf (TICK-564). Hand tufted with hand-tied wollen tufts and twine.

Based on your weights we would recommend you look at either our Artisan Tailored Pocket, in a soft and medium split tension or the Artisan Bespoke 002 in the same tensions. This spring tension would give you both the support you need with both models offering a medium feel in the top layer of the mattress. The Tailored pocket would be slightly firmer in the top layer compared to the Artisan Bespoke 002. Both of these are a dual layer spring construction with natural fillings.

The Artisan Tailored Pocket mattress contains 3950gsm of fillings including 1200gsm Blended British Fleece Wool and Cotton and 1500gsm Pure 100% Mohair.

The Artisan Bespoke 002 features 3600gsm of fillings but this model has vanadium coated calico pocket springs, vs the Tailored pockets spun bond springs hence the difference in price. It also features 1200gsm Pure Horsetail.
