Mattress for slatted base

Please can you tell me if we can select any mattress or does it need to be a specific range for a slatted bed base (on a french style wood bed)?
We are considering the Artisan Tailored Pocket 2000 or Artisan Natural, which we will need in a split tension (I weight 69kg side sleeper, my husband 103kg back sleeper).
Thank you,
Fiona

Good Afternoon Fiona,

Thanks for your question.

There is no specific mattress you need to look at for use with a slatted base. A slatted base, whether sprung or solid, will give the mattress going on top of it a slightly firmer feel. This is the opposite to a sprung base such as our Artisan Base; this will give any mattress a softer feel.

The Artisan Tailored Pocket 2000 and the Artisan Naturals are absolutely fine to go on to a slatted base as long as the gaps between the slats are no bigger than 3". If you measure them and they are then all you need to do is simply purchase some standard sheets of MDF, plywood or pegboard to go over them. If the gaps are bigger than 3" the mattress will attempt to settle in the gaps causing indentation and damage.

The Artisan Naturals is our true medium feeling model in the top layers being neither too soft nor too firm.

The Artisan Tailored Pocket 2000 is a medium in the top layers but ever so slightly firmer than the Naturals having a manufactured dual layered spring system inside. Both these models have 85% natural fillings providing a cool sleep surface.

The website guidelines tend to be a bit broader all around; At your body weights we would more than likely match you both with a Medium spring tension to get the right support from inside the mattress.

I hope this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact us on 0161 437 4419. The office is open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm.

Kind Regards, Lee.
