Gillian Roberts

Hi. I’ve recenly made 2 wrong purchases and desperately need to get it right this time. Ive bought the highgrove apsley king size in my room and high grove elegance double in the guest room. The apsley is so firm I wake up unable to feel limbs and ended up with a rotator cuff problem. The elegance sags in the middle causing back and neck pain.
I have on going back and neck problems. I’m female 11 stone and a side sleeper. Can you recommend your most suitable bed please.

Hi Gillian,

Thanks for your question and sorry to hear of the issues you've encountered so far.

At your body weight we would match you with a Medium spring tension to get the right support;

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

Side sleepers need to avoid anything too firm in the top layers as this will only cause pressure point pains in places such as shoulders, hips and knees and it will certainly only serve to exacerbate any existing pains.

As such, we'd recommend something more medium in the top layers giving a slight sink but not too much.

Both have that medium upholstery with the only difference being that the Artisan range is constructed with natural fillings and those fillings provide a cool sleep surface; Ideal for anyone who identifies as a hot sleeper.

The base that the mattress is going on to can have an impact on the mattress; We generally encounter mattress sag in the middle if the mattress is on a sprung slatted base. The central support bar causes that sag as the mattress will always attempt to settle in that space.

I hope this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Lee.
