Advice on right mattress for big weight difference

A customer asked

Hi We recently replaced a bespoke tailored mattress we'd had for the past 10 years with a off the shelf version. Our bespoke one was split into 2 sections based on height/weight but had a one piece base and topper keeping it all together. The new mattress wasn't cheap but it is awful. I'm 6' tall and weigh ~20 stone and my partner is 5' and weighs 8!

We have a sprung slat base bed and I'm really looking for a new mattress that will work with our disperate weights and heights. Is this something you guys can help with?

Hi Jules

What you are looking for is a zip link mattress, which we have in our Origins and Artisan range.

I would guide you towards the Artisan range as they use a range of pocket springs in different tensions.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

As you can see from the above table that we would recommend a firm tension spring for yourself, and your partner is in the soft tension spring range, but it wouldn't be out of the question they have a medium tension spring, if they like a slightly firmer support level within the mattress.

If you have a look at the Artisan Naturals as a bench mark this has medium feel top upholstery layers i.e not too soft or too firm. This is our most popular model in the Artisan range.

If you require any further assistance please call the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards Gary
