Sloping mattress from large retailer

I bought a mattress around 18 months ago from a large retailer. It’s a hydrid mattress. From the very start, my husband felt he was going to fall out. We thought this might settle. Then about 12 months in, the mattress edge started to slope, so the top is now slightly bigger than the bottom. The manufacturer arranged an “independent” inspection, and it said the report was discussed and we disagreed. It wasn’t even hinted at, let alone discussed. Because of a small space, the bed is in a corner and I do have to climb over my husband to get into bed. This has never caused an issue with mattresses before. We have turned it, but not once a month as recommended. The retailer has now offered another inspection but I believe they’ll still favour the retailer.

Hi Sarah,

Thank you for your enquiry.  I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with your mattress.  What type of base do you have the mattress on as this can affect the way a mattress feels?

We use a company of independent inspectors with regards to our mattresses when the customer feels it has developed a fault, sometimes the report comes back that the mattress has failed but other times the mattress has settled normally. An independent inspector does not favour either the retailer or the customer. Their report is based solely on the information gleaned from your mattress.  If the retailer is offering a further inspection I would take them up on the offer.

I hope this is helpful and if you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards
Michaela
