Thanks for your comment about the best mattress for a side sleeper. Sorry to hear you're waking up in pain in your right shoulder from your current mattress. It sounds as if the mattress upholstery layers in this mattress are too firm and not providing enough sink for you during the night.

Side sleepers, in particular, need a more forgiving top comfort layer in any mattress than a back or front sleeper. This is due to the increased pressure, you can read more on sleeping positions here.

At your bodyweights, you need a 1.4 medium gauge pocket spring to adequately support you during the night. Don't forget that spring tensions such as soft, medium and firm are directly linked to your body weight and don't, therefore, dictate how soft, medium or firm the mattress will feel.

There are two recommendations based on your bodyweight and side sleeper preference. We would recommend either the Origins Comfort 1000 or the Artisan Luxury. Depending on your preference for synthetic fibres over natural. The biggest difference with the Artisan Luxury will be the life span, calico pocket spring unit and use of 100% animal fibres. Both have a soft feel, the Luxury is softer still than the comfort.
