Does the 100 latex natural topper have cooling properties like the other mattress toppers as there is no mention of it in the blurb. I know I get hot at night so which topper is best for me please?

Hi Libbie,

Thanks for your comment on mattress toppers and what the coolest form of these are. You raise an interesting point about 'cooling properties' in foam toppers.

To answer your question quickly all-foam toppers will be hotter and warmer than a natural fibre topper like wool. Latex is far cooler than memory foam but is still a warmer topper, so if you're a hot sleeper we wouldn't recommend it.

Latex is a fantastic progressive natural material that doesn't retain as much heat as memory foam. It moulds instantly and returns to its original position when you need to move, whereas memory foam can take a long time to come back to form. However, it's warmer than other natural upholstery fibres.

The issue we have with all these 'memory Gel foams' and 'cooling properties' is that they have been tagged onto memory foam to try and resolve its biggest issue. This issue is that all these foams are vasco elastic so actually require heat to work. This is the biggest complaint with these forms of memory foam toppers. Adding cooling gels and bits and bobs have zero realistic impact for warmer sleepers, a bit like closing the door once the horse has bolted.

We recommend you look for a wool or microfibre topper if you're a hot sleeper and avoid foams.

We hope that helps and gives you further mattress buying guidance. If you have any more mattress related questions please get back in touch on info@localhost or 0161 437 4419.
