Many thanks for your question comparing the Vispring mattress range. Vispring are one of the worlds finest mattress makers who have recently branched out from Europe into the USA and have diversified their mattress range to make more entry level models.

The two models you're looking to compare have different fillings which is why they are listed as having different 'feels'. If you've read our site you'll know that there are two main components when choosing a new mattress. Let's revisit them for the benefit of others reading this.

1. Choosing the right Pocket spring gauge, amount and material based on your bodyweight not 'feel' of the mattress
2. Picking the required GSM (Grams per square meter) of all upholstery that is then used as the mattress comfort layers. These fillings provide the ultimate 'feel' of the mattress ie soft, medium or firm not the spring unit in isolation

Whilst the images may look the same the actual fibres and amounts differ on the two models. It can be easy at first glance to assume they are the same but you need to delve a bit deeper to find out the fibres, blends and GSM's to truly compare mattresses.

It's not a case of the Fursdon being a rebrand of the Herald Superb. They have fundamentally different fibres in the top comfort layers. Sadly Vispring have more recently stopped disclosing the GSM of their beds. However, looking at the layers below you can see the difference. Alpaca and bamboo are some of the very softest layers and given this mattress is primarily wool blends this is why it's far softer than the Herald superb. More on the fibres beneath.
