Mattress requirements for different needs.

Hi.
I weigh 52 kg and my husband 98kg. I can easily feel hot in bed whereas my husband feels cold all the time. I have a poor back and I prefer a firm bed. I usually sleep on my side. My husband’s back is not perfect but he prefers a medium to soft bed.
Our budget is between GBP1,500 and GBP2,300. Do you offer any financing options?
Many thanks.

Hi, thanks for contacting us with regard to a new mattress.

I am sure we will be able to recommend a mattress which will suit your requirements however as you both require a different comfort level there will need to be a compromise.

When looking at a traditional pocket sprung mattress, these are made up in two ways with the internal spring unit providing support and all the upholstery layers which are on top of those springs providing comfort.

At your body weights and heights, you both require a mattress which will provide a medium spring tension for support. We would not put anyone onto a firm spring tension unless they were over 110kg as you need to make an impression into the spring unit in order for it to create that support.

Please note that the soft spring tension which is mentioned in the video is no longer available as we only now make mattresses with either a medium or firm support.

As you do require a mattress with differing levels of comfort you would be best with an overall medium comfort as this then meets in the middle or you could go for a firmer comfort but you would need to add a topper to your side which will provide extra comfort layers so soften your side down.

Our natural fibre mattresses contain layers of wool and wools' main benefit is that it is incredibly breathable allowing it to wick away both moisture and increases in temperature when it is placed against say a warmer sleeper. It has the opposite effect when it is cold, of helping to trap warm air and release heat against a colder body.  A mattress with 100% natural fibres would be recommended for you and with this in mind I would recommend the Artisan Bespoke 004 which contains 100% natural fibres and provides the sleeper with an overall medium comfort so not too soft nor too firm. If this mattress is to go onto a slatted or platform base, then this would firm the internal support up slightly.

We do offer financing via Klarna and this enables you to pay over a 3 month period.

We also offer a 60 day returns guarantee period which covers you should the mattress be unsuitable.  We do ask that the mattress is protected with a mattress protector and you would need to sleep on this for about 4 weeks as it takes this length of time for your body to adjust to a new mattress.   If after this length of time the mattress is unsuitable, all you need to do is to call our office whereupon we would make arrangements to have this collected or we can discuss swapping to an alternative product :-

I hope the above is of assistance however please do not hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419 for further information/ advice.

Regards Julie
