A customer asked

Hi,
I've been given your details by friends who love the mattress and service that you've provided.
I wanted to replace a 15 year-old cheap sprung mattress. I have tried out various mattresses in various showrooms and
decided that I really liked the feel of latex mattresses - after having tried some Yanis beds. I hated memory foam beds.
In the end I decided to get an Eve mattress because of the 100 day guarantee. When this arrived I realised that the eve is
much softer than I thought I wanted a mattress to be (I thought I liked firm mattresses). However, after sleeping on it I
realised that it's just about supportive enough to be comfortable (maybe a little more support would be nice) and I
actually really like the feeling sinking into the mattress a little.
The problem is that my partner (who is 22 stone) really doesn't get on with the mattress; in the short period of the trial,
the eve has stopped recovering - it has a permanent on his side of the bed.
The eve is therefore going back and I wanted your advice on what mattress would be suitable. I would be tempted to get a
more expensive latex mattress but I weigh 14 stone, so there's a significant difference in our bodyweights. What would you
recommend for the difference in weights?

Hi Andy,

The major stumbling block you have in respect of finding the right mattress is the weight differential and I would think it nigh on impossible to find a single tension product that would suit you both. The issue with the Eve is likely to occur with other latex products as these are not made for people of the weight of your partner.

There is a solution however, in the form of a pocket sprung mattress with a split tension, medium and firm. These are available in our Artisan range in either a one piece or zip and link set in king size and above.

I suggest you take a look at the Artisan Naturals. The Naturals is our most popular, unbeatable model with 85% natural fibres. Containing a huge GSM of fillings, including wool and mohair, on a Calico springs/" title="pocket spring">pocket spring unit. This medium feel hand crafted mattress is where we stake our reputation as ‘The Mattress Specialists’. The closest comparison we can make to this model would be the Vi Spring Regal Superb.

4 1500gsm 100% Pure Mohair 1000gsm Bonded British Fleece Wool and Cotton
5 1600 Calico encased Pocket Springs [ 49mm ] [1.28mm ] 1720 Calico encased Pocket Springs [48mm ] [1.28mm ]
Total GSM 3950gsm 3100gsm

The mattresses in the Artisan range can be paired with either a soft, medium or firm spring tension to support your body weight. Your body weights dictate that you should opt for a split tension of Medium and firm.

Please view the Artisan products on our site and then call our office on 0161 437 4419 for specific advice as to suitability. I trust that this helps.

Kind regards,
Amy
