is it better to have a spung base or slatted when looking for a softer bed

Hi Lucy,

Thanks for your question.

A sprung base will provide more of a sink when lying on your mattress, but will not necessarily make it feel softer and it depends upon which type of mattress you opt for. Our Origins range contains synthetic upholstery layers and are normally paired with a solid platform topped base, whereas the Artisan range has natural upholstery and is paired for comfort with a sprung base.

Flat slatted bases tend to make any mattress placed on them feel slightly firmer as there is no give in the slats. Sprung slatted bases can cause problems with ridging in the centre. If you would like some further advice regarding this, please call our office. 0161 437 4419

Kind regards
