Does a Hybrid foam mattress have a smell similar to memory foam?

Alicia

I have spend the last 4 months trying to get the right double mattress for my attic bed, though spare I use it most nights as I rest better sleeping alone. Now I tried an Eve mattress because it was a really good bargain and came in a bit easy to take to the attic, unfortunately after more than 2 months there was a really pungent smell coming out from it and had to return it (has one mid layer of memory foam), now I found it most comfortable (I have arthritis and I am not a good sleeper) so I am looking at this type of mattresses rather that spring. I am interested in your hybrid foam mattresses, but I am afraid these will also smell as bad, I am probably allergic to the fumes because it really made me ill the few nights I slept there. I would be grateful if you could let me know as much as you know about the hybrid potential for smell.

Hi Alicia,

I am sorry to hear of your problems with the pungency of the Eve mattress.

Hybrid foam is entirely man made and will have an associated smell generated in the chemical process of production.

In addition, there may be a further odour eminating from the chemical fire retardants used.

Unfortunately, some people are more susceptible to the smells associated with man made products and so you may be left with no alternative, but to look at a naturally upholstered, pocket sprung mattress. I hope that this helps.

Kind regards,
