Is it acceptable to put new mattress on existing platform top divan base. Reluctant to change it as has drawer combination that I can no longer find. Large drawer at end of bed and 2 continental drawers.

Hi Carol,

Thank you for your question.

If your mattress base is in sound condition then there is no need to change it! We always advocate this, unless you want to change the look of it.

We do offer that drawer combination but if you're happy to stick with your existing base then please do so!

We have four different base options to choose from.

The Contemporary Platform Divan

Artisan Base

Our timber frames are solid wood which is sourced from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approved sources making it a sustainable choice. These solid wood frames are then upholstered with 600GSM of Cotton Wool Upholstery to give a soft padded feel to them. The platform top is again a wooden frame which is boarded giving a consistent robust divan surface for any mattress. These are all handmade here in the UK. Placing a mattress on top of a platform divan will slightly firm up the overall feel of the mattress.

The Artisan Base.

This is a sprung divan base with the option of either pocket springs or bonnel coil, in theory both do the same job but pocket springs is the superior more preferred option. Placing a mattress on top of a sprung divan will slightly soften the overall feel of the mattress.

We have an article here all about bases which goes through some areas to check.

I hope this information helps, if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to call the office on 0161 437 4419 to speak to one of our friendly advisors.

Kind regards,
Amy.
