Feeling the tufts

I have read your article about settlement and the central hump in a pocket sprung mattress with wool etc, interlinings. My problem is when reclining I can feel the lofting buttons on my hips and shoulders. I don't want to buy at a further £280 (on top of my original £1550 purchase for the Hypnos bed set) a topper pad; however by getting a topper pad would this in your opinion solve the problem I am having or are there any alternatives?

Hi Duncan,

Thank you for your enquiry.

Toppers are primarily used to provide an extra comfort layer and to make a mattress feel softer. In our opinion, a topper may provide a suitable barrier between your body and the tufts, although, without full knowledge of the constructions techniques used with your particular mattress, it cannot be guaranteed. It is unlikely that you will be able to solve this problem in any other way, but have you enquired as to whether Hypnos make a mattress without the tufts, as you may be able to do an exchange rather than purchase a topper.

We trust that this helps, kind regards.
