I am 5ft 7ins tall, I weigh 15.5st and I have 46in chest. At the moment I have a memory foam top section with 2000 mini springs underneath. I am a side sleeper and I having trouble across my shoulders and kneck and sometimes my arms from the elbow to the hands feel cold when I wake up. Sometimes that can be 2 - 3 times per night. Can you give me any advice on the type of mattress to consider buying?
Thank you.

Hi Robert,

Many thanks for your enquiry. Strangely enough, this is the second enquiry relating to a memory foam product we have received today.

It is unusual for you to feel cold when sleeping on a mattress containing memory foam as a top layer as this is notorious for heat retention. The reason for your aches and pains may well be that, as a side sleeper, this mattress is not providing you with enough support. Support in any mattress is provided by the spring unit and in the case of mini springs, these, we would argue are not enough to provide you with the correct level of support for your body weight. What you require is a medium spring tension for support with the comfort being provided by the upholstery layers. For people of average body weight such as your's, 1000 springs in a king size mattress are usually sufficient to provide appropriate support and mattresses containing a spring count of much more than this normally have a number of mini springs included to achieve the higher count, but in our opinion these mini springs take the place of layers of upholstery and do not bring much to the table in terms of comfort, despite the marketing hype.

Without knowledge of your budget, it is difficult to make a specific recommendation from our ranges, however, we would direct you to the best sellers detailed at the foot of this response. Please view the Artisan Naturals and the Origins Pocket 1500 and then call our office on 0161 437 4419 for more specific advice as to the suitability of one of these products for you. Kind regards.
