I am 105 kg, 185 meter high.. 50 years old.. almost every single morning I wake up with sore lower back and atiff legs and back. Including headaches that, if I don't do stretching, will get worse and only are treated with painkillers.. current mattress is foam with slated bed (adjustable).. have tried very firm mattresses too.. but nothing seem to help.. my wife is half weight and 1.55 m.. so possible looking at zip and link mattress.. can you let me know how to go about this.. happy to invest in bespoke made for whatever helps to give me right support throughout back.. sleep on my side on on my stomach mostly..

Hi Yno,

Thank you for your enquiry.

The first thing to say is that a single tension mattress, whether foam, latex or pocket sprung is not suitable for people of the weight differential you have. Secondly, pocket sprung mattresses are not suitable for use on adjustable beds. As latex and foam cannot have different tensions, these are also not suitable for you both. The alternative would seem to be opting for a pocket sprung mattress and buying a new base to suit.

Given the weight differential, we would suggest that opt for a split spring tension, medium for you and soft for your wife. Such pocket sprung mattresses are only available in our Artisan range in a king size and above. Please view the Artisan Naturals or Artisan Bespoke 004, both of which can have the spring tension selected to suit and both of which contain natural upholstery. The Naturals has 85% natural upholstery and the 004 has 100%, but both provide the same overall feel in the upholstery and the Naturals is the best selling product in the range. Both these product are paired with a sprung true edge base, which can be selected with different fabric finishes to suit current decor.

We trust that the above is of help to you, but if you require any further advice or guidance. please call our office on 0161 437 4419 and speak with one of our advisors.

Kind regards Julie
