Gel or sprung/gel combination

Nicola

We would like a mattress for a sprung slat Base. We are 5,5 - 10.5 stone and 6,0 - 13st. We currently have a pocket sprung firm. We both find this too hard, we are side/front sleepers. We are trying to decide between gel which we like the top feel of or sprung with gel. We like the medium mattresses of both types when we try them.

Good Afternoon Nicola,

Thank you for you enquiry.

As side sleepers we would recommend a soft to medium in the upholstery layers to prevent pressure pains in the shoulders, hips and knees. Your body weights would require a medium tension to support you as you sleep.  The only mattress that we do that is springs with a Talalay Latex upper layer is the Origins Pocket Latex 1500 but this would be quiet firm. Also as a one sided mattress you would be unable to turn it and therefore not prolong the life of the mattress.

We would recommend a medium tension in the springs with a medium in the comfort layers. Our Origins Pocket 1500 which is has a medium feel (this could be softened down at a later date with a topper if you found it too firm) would be suitable and also our Artisan Naturals is the true medium in that range.

We wouldn't usually recommend this but you could then also add our Laygel Mattress Topper.

Hope this answers your question and if you need any further information please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0333 250 6238. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm.

Kind Regards, Michaela.
