Liz Callaghan

I am 5' 6" weighing just under 10st. My partner is 5' 10" and weighs 11 - 12st
We are both mainly side sleepers
We have a Warren Evans slatted double bed. The slats are 5 1/2" wide and 2" apart.
What mattress would you recommend please?

Hi Liz,

Thanks for your question.

At your body weights we would match you both with a Medium spring tension to get the correct support;

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

Side sleepers in general need to avoid anything too firm in the top layers as this will only serve to cause pressure point pains in places such as hips, shoulders and knees.

As such, have a look at something more medium feeling in the top layers such as our Origins Pocket 1500 or Artisan Naturals

The main difference here is that our Artisan range is constructed with natural fillings; Those fillings not only last longer as standard but also provide a cool sleep surface. Both of those models will give you a a slight sink into the top layer but not too much.

Both of those mattresses can go on to your slatted base as the gaps are less than 3". You might just want to place an old duvet on top of the slats to protect the mattress from splinters, indentation or damage.

I hope this helps but if you have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Lee.
