In my furnished rented flat I slept on a Somnus Senza Pocket Plus Jewel 5000 regular. Great mattress: Soft, responsive, supportive. Now that I’ve bought a flat I’m looking to buy something similar. Which John Ryan mattress would be comparable? I’m 5’9’’, 14 stone, side sleeper.

Hi Evie,

Thank you for your enquiry via our website.  I have been unable to find a detailed specification regarding this mattress other than it is a natural fibre mattress and can have a medium or firm spring tension.  Without the amounts of the different fibres used in the upholstery layers, it is not possible to make a comparison.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

At your body weight, we would pair you with a medium spring tension to give you the correct level of support.

Artisan Luxury mattress

As a side sleeper we would not recommend anything too firm in the comfort layers as this can cause pressure pains in the shoulders, hips and knees.  The Artisan Luxury provides the softest comfort layers whereas if you prefer a more medium feel the Artisan Bespoke 004 would be a better option.

If you would like any further information or would like to discuss the suitability of any of our mattresses please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards
Michaela
