Thank you for your question. It can be confusing choosing a new mattress when there are so many choices.

 

 

I would not recommend a firm level of comfort given your sleep positions. If the upholstery layers are firm, this can cause pressure pains in the shoulders and hips of side sleepers. They can also pivot on their shoulders and hips which can lead to lower back and neck pain. Side sleepers need cushioning in the top layers at least to allow those areas to sink into the mattress which will allow the spine to be completely aligned.

 

If your partner prefers a firmer level of comfort I would recommend a firmer medium upholstery such as the Origins Reflex 1000 or Artisan 1500 so that there is still some cushioning. This can be softened with a separate mattress topper on your half if you find it too firm, it is impossible to firm up a mattress that is too soft for your partner. However, given your partner's very light body weight, even a medium level of comfort such as the Artisan Naturals or the Origins Pocket 1500 would feel quite firm for her. What type of mattress are you currently sleeping on? Knowing what you are sleeping on and why it is not right can help when deciding on a new mattress.
