Thank you for your question. You can use an electric blanket on any fibre filled mattress.

The advice used to be that anyone with back problems needed a firm mattress but this is not the case. Anyone with back issues requires the correct level of support for their height and weight. The firm spring tension is designed to support body weights between 17 stone and 23 stone. Anyone under 17 stone will not weigh enough to activate the firm spring tension which means you would not get any support from the springs but would have essentially a tabletop of wire with upholstery layers on.

As you are a side sleeper, firm upholstery layers could cause you pressure pains in your shoulders and hips. How does your husband sleep? The comfort layers are determined by your sleep positions and comfort preferences. If he is a combination sleeper then a medium level of comfort, such as the Artisan Naturals and Origins Pocket 1500, would be the most suitable as this provides cushioning in the top layers for hips and shoulders to sink into but is more supportive underneath so that front and back sleepers do not sink in too much.
