Comment Check Icon 1 answers Comment Icon 0 comments

I bought a sleep number type air bed about 7 months ago. Never did find the perfect sleep nunber setting. Now i am wa9king up with sore shoulders and hips. Its 4 inch comfort layer is a 2 inch med convoluted foam with 2 inches of plush memory foam. It has a 1 1/2 - 2 inch tuffed pillow top. I am a combination sleeper. I fall asleep on my stomach but wake up on my side or back. Im desperate to make this bed more comfortable. Do you have any sugfestions?

Hi Lori,

Thank you for contacting us regarding your Sleep Number Air mattress which is proving to be a tad uncomfortable.

The Sleep Number air mattress is a newer concept mattress and is classed as a smart mattress providing extra layers of comfort however as you are experiencing shoulder and hip pain, this tells me that the mattress is a little too firm and is causing pressure pain in those areas.

The Sleep number air mattress also needs to be inflated or deflated to your exact comfort level however being an air mattress, problems can arise due to leaking of the air or punctures etc.

I feel that the only way to provide extra comfort would be to try adding a mattress topper.    Mattress Toppers provide an extra layer of comfort and come in different thicknesses depending on how soft you want to make your current mattress.    I would recommend looking at a natural latex topper which are cooler and much more responsive than say a memory foam topper which unfortunately require your body heat in order to make them responsive and cause over heating to the sleeper.

I set out below a video from our website which explains all about mattress toppers which I hope you find informative :-

I hope the above is of assistance to you however please do not hesitate to contact us should you require any further information or advice.

Regards Julie
