Artisan Natural or Latex sense for aches and pains?
I am looking for a king size mattress. I am 8st 5ft 3 and sleep on my side and back. My partner is 13 stone and 5ft 9. I suffer from neck and lower back pain. Switching between side sleeping and back sleeping means that I struggle to get the right mattress so that it doesn’t pinch at my shoulders but does provide enough support for my lower back. I don’t really know what comfort level I want - I just want to eradicate the aches!
i have been looking at your artisan naturals mattress in medium (and possibly zip and link so that it is not too heavy for me to turn). I’ve been also looking at the Latex Sense Bliss latex mattress. Are they both suitable fits for my issues? Any recommendations on this would be amazing. Secondly, I note that you say that mattresses should be 2 sided . The latex bliss is only 1 sided. Will this affect its longevity? Thank you so much for your advice.
Hi Heather,
Thank you for your question. The mattresses that you are considering work in different ways. With a traditional pocket sprung mattress the support is provided by the springs and the upholstery layers provide the level of comfort. This type of mattress has a cushioning feel. A latex mattress works differently, the density of the latex provides both the comfort and support.
Latex is a durable and responsive material. If the core of the latex mattress is just one density, then this can be turned over, The Latex Bliss mattress is a one sided mattress as it contains three layers of different densities. The level of comfort and support in this mattress is altered by changing the density of either the middle layer or both the middle and base layer. Latex requires pressure to be able to mould to you, at your very light body weight, you would not apply much pressure to even the soft comfort mattress however, this may be too soft for your partner as he will apply more pressure than you. The medium comfort of this mattress would support him and would be suitable for all sleep positions. The top layer of this mattress is a soft density that would allow your shoulders and hips to sink in.
The Artisan Naturals has a medium level of comfort in the upholstery layers which has cushioning in the top layers for your shoulders and hips but is more supportive underneath so that if your partner sleeps in their front and back they will not sink in too much. You can add a mattress topper to your half if you find this too firm whilst your partner likes the comfort. If your partner is also a side sleeper, a softer medium level of comfort, such as the Artisan Luxury, may be more suitable.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
We would pair you both with the medium spring tension to provide the correct level of support.
I hope this helps and if you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.
Kind Regards
