Hi Carmel,

Thank you for your question. Memory foam is a type of synthetic mattress foam that is chemically engineered, similar to other foams you might find in your home. However, what sets memory foam apart is its viscoelastic properties, which allow it to respond to heat by softening and contouring to your body. The production of memory foam involves a blend of around 61 different chemical compounds, and each brand may source materials from various suppliers worldwide. As a result, the chemical composition can vary significantly between different brands, with each manufacturer creating their own unique formula for memory foam.

Many manufacturers design their memory foam products with strategically placed holes to enhance airflow. This design feature helps to prevent overheating during sleep by improving air circulation and reducing heat retention. While memory foam is known for its ability to conform to your body shape, it can also trap heat, making these ventilation holes essential for a comfortable sleep experience.

You should be cautious about holes in your memory foam mattress if they are large, irregular, or seem to result from damage, as this may indicate that it’s time for a replacement. Regular use can cause small holes to expand over time, potentially compromising the foam's support. Additionally, holes in your mattress could signal a bed bug infestation, as these pests may burrow into the foam to create nests. However, unlike the intentional holes designed for airflow, infestation-related holes would typically be irregular and unevenly spaced.

If you are still concerned about your mattress I would recommend contacting Sleepeezey to ensure that they are there by design.

I hope this helps and if you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards

Michaela
