Reccomendations
Hi myself and my partner are moving into our new home in a couple of months time and are looking to invest in a good quality mattress.
I am 6’ tall, 72 kg and mainly sleep on my side.
my partner is 5’ 7 inches tall around 61-62kg and mainly sleeps in her front but also on her side.
From the advice on your site it looks like we would need a medium mattress. We’re looking for kingsize.
Which mattresses from your range would you recommend and what would be the key differences between them?
many thanks in advance
Russell
Hi Russell,
Thank you for your question. The pocket springs within the mattress provide the support of a traditional mattress. The spring tension is based on your heights and body weights and we would pair you both with the medium spring tension to provide you with the correct level of support.

The upholstery layers on top of the springs determine how the mattress feels. You should consider both your sleep positions and comfort preferences to determine which level of comfort would be the most suitable for yourselves. We would recommend either medium or firmer medium comfort layers, depending on how you like the mattress to feel. The medium upholstery has cushioning in the top layers for the shoulders and hips of side sleepers but is more supportive underneath so that front and back sleepers do not sink in too much. This is a great all-around level of comfort. The firmer medium level of comfort has a little cushioning in the top layers but it has a more supportive overall feel.
For a true medium level of comfort, you could consider either the Artisan Bespoke 004, the Artisan Naturals or the Origins Pocket 1500. All three mattresses will have a similar level of comfort in the upholstery layers. The difference is the internal components within the mattress. The Origins Pocket 1500 is predominantly a manmade fibre mattress, whilst the Artisan Naturals is constructed with 85% natural fibres and the Artisan Bespoke 004 is 100% natural. Natural fibres provide a cooler sleeping surface and help you to regulate your body temperature, making them ideal for anyone who overheats during the night, although you will always pay a premium for natural fibres, so you should also consider your budget. They are also more durable than synthetic fibres, which means the lifespan of the mattress will be longer. The Origins mattresses have machine made spun bonded pocket springs, whilst both Aritsan mattresses have vanadium-coated handmade calico pocket springs, which are more breathable and the best springs you can put in a mattress.

For a firmer medium level of comfort, you could look at the Artisan 1500, which is constructed with 53% natural fibres or the Origins Reflex 1000, which is constructed with manmade fibres. Both of these mattresses have spun bonded springs.
I hope this helps and if you would like any further information or would like to discuss your individual needs, please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.
Kind Regards
Michaela
