Combining Artisan 1500 mattress with spring divan
Hello. I’m very interested in the Artisan 1500 Superking which is what the mattress finder suggested for us. 2 people 85 Kg, like to sleep on side and back. Sleep closely together.
Our current mattress is a Warren Evans Organic, lovely build but sagging in the middle after 2 years on a solid divan base.
We have been given a ViSpring Divan spring base, in 2 clip together singles.
We are unsure how the mattress feel will be altered by the spring base. Also, do we need 2 zip together mattresses for the 2 bases?
Thanks!
Hi Nick,
Thank you for reaching out about the Artisan 1500 Superking mattress. This mattress is designed to offer a medium to firm level of comfort, thanks to its carefully selected upholstery fillings that sit above the spring unit. However if you would prefer a mattress with an overall medium level of comfort, not too soft nor too firm, then you could look at the Artisan Naturals which contains 85% natural fibres along with calico encased pocket springs.
Based on your weights and heights, a medium spring tension will provide the necessary support for both of you, and this recommendation holds true for any of our mattresses you consider.
| Bodyweight | Spring tension |
|---|---|
| Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
| 16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
| Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
We understand that your Warren Evans mattress has developed a sag in the middle after just two years of use. It's important to note that it's typical for fibre-filled mattresses to settle in the areas where you sleep the most. This is a normal characteristic of such mattresses. To help maintain an even distribution of the upholstery fibres, we recommend using a mattress that is fully flippable, as this allows for better longevity and comfort over time.
I understand that you have received a Vi Spring sprung divan base, which is an ideal match for the Artisan 1500 mattress or the Artisan Naturals. This combination is designed to work together seamlessly, ensuring that the mattress retains its intended comfort and feel. However, if the mattress were placed on a platform-topped base, it could change the overall experience, as it would make the internal springs feel slightly firmer.
If your base measures 180cm in width and 200cm in length when assembled, you won't need a zip & link mattress; instead, you can choose a single superking mattress. Just be sure to measure the base accurately to confirm these dimensions.
I hope the above is of assistance to you however should you require further information or assistance, please do not hesitate to call one of our friendly team on 0161 437 4419.
Kind regards Julie Collier
