Firstly thank you for answering my question regarding the Relyon Monaco and advising of suitable mattresses within your range and wondered if you could give me further advice please.
I have indeed looked at the suggestions you suggested Artisan naturals, bespoke and 004 and have also telephoned yourselves not so long ago with regards to the Luxury and was advised to go and look at a VI Devonshire which we did and didn't know if it would give enough support for our body weights 11 stone and 13 stone although it was nice and cosy so to speak and unfortunately Vi stockists our limited here, not sure if they had the regal or herald but they did have a £8000 one in the showroom :-/ . I am going to buy from yourselves as like your honesty compared to other high end brands, although it can be quite distressing for us swopping and changing until we get it right and certainly is not fair on yourselves as a manufacturer in my opinion hence the reason for a few more questions please.
Am I better buying say the Artisan Naturals for example and changing every 5yrs say for optimum performance compared to buying the Bespoke 004 like having to mattresses for the price of one or is this false economy.
Would the Artisan Luxury not give me the support in medium tension with the soft feel like a cloud feeling i.e sleeping on a soft hotel mattress feels nice for a few nights but the then leads to aches and pains. Also what about settlement would this show more.
From the recommendations you gave me which would be the softer/comfort feeling of the fillings Bespoke 004, Naturals or the Bespoke 002. I may have answered my own question here.
Am I right in thinking the higher (height) of the mattress is indeed down to the springs and not the fillings as previously thought the higher = more fillings
could you give me the heights of the mentioned mattresses to please.
Could you tell me please the crucial benefits of genuine Calico springs.
Lastly I will be wanting to use a topper possibly wool for protection and a additional comfort layer (another reason I think the Artisan luxury may be out)From your site I believe it was you that used 2 separate toppers and one of them microfiber ......is this a hot feeling topper . also do you recommend mattress encasements i.e protect a bed or are these just ploys of the trade.
Thank you so much for your advice

Hi again Kez,

With all mattresses there will be settlement over time, which can be avoided in part by regularly turning and rotating the mattress. With your particular body weights, I would not suggest the Artisan Luxury as this is likely to provide the similar feel to the Vi-Spring Devonshire, which you have already advised you were not keen on.

From the recommendations provided by me earlier, I would suggest that you opt for the Artisan Bespoke 004 in a medium spring tension. This mattress, whilst being similar in feel to the Artisan Naturals, has 100% natural upholstery layers as opposed to 85% in the Naturals. All of the mattresses I referred to come with a manufacturer's 10 year guarantee, although with proper care and attention, we expect them to last a lot longer. The suggestion of changing every 5 years does note therefore apply.

All of our Artisan models are 30-32cm in depth and this is primarily as a result of the upholstery layers, as the spring units are of similar height, except in the Artisan Bespoke 002, which contains a double layer of springs. By encasing the springs individually in calico means that each spring has it's own pocket, making any movement made by one party is not noticed or felt by the other party during sleep hours. Other methods and fabrics can be used, although the performance may not be quite as good, which is why those in calico tend to attract a higher price.

As far as a topper is concerned, I would always advocate using the mattress for at least 4-6 weeks before deciding upon whether a topper is required as it may turn out to be an unnecessary expense.

If you do opt for a topper, then natural fibres or the microfibre one referred to will not cause overheating. We always recommend that you use a mattress protector, whether you opt for a topper or not. This will provide the top surface of your mattress will additional protection and is likely to prolong the overall life of the product.

In addition, they offer protection just in case you do decide to utilise the 60 day love it or return it guarantee offered by us.

I trust that this gives your further clarification, but if you do have any further queries, please call our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Mike.
