Thanks for getting in touch about adjustable beds.

Adjustable beds can be quite tricky to get right. This is because adjustable bed mattresses have to be very maluable given the fact the bases pivot and move. Which in turn limits the number of quality mattresses you have to choose from.

None of the spring pocket spring and upholstered mattresses will be suitable as they are not designed to flex and be contorted as much as the adjustable bed base. This leads to either damage to the mattress or the adjustable bed base. If you're new to choosing a new mattress our handy guide below gives you the basics of everything you need to know.

Luckily you've got a Jensen mattress and base which are one of the few high-end mattress manufacturers. Built to last. I'm guessing it was a Latex mattress model given its an adjustable bed? We would need to know some more information to properly advise but we can help you with the two scenarios below to try and get you the perfect nights sleep.

Adjustable Bed Suitable Mattress Choices

The first scenario is to pick a adjustable suitable mattress which can move with the bed. The only real types of suitable adjustable mattresses are the dreaded memory foam or the far superior Natural Latex solid core mattresses like our Fusion range. Some sellers try and fob you off with a cheap low upholstery sprung mattresses but over time adjustable beds will damage these.

We would need to know what your comfort preference to properly advise but have a look at our Fusion 3 100% Natural Latex mattress. We would also ask you to check the weight limit of your Jensen adjustable bed base. It may be that the Fusion is too heavy as its a really deep mattress. This is how it gives you such progressive support.
Unlike other foam mattresses for adjustable beds, our Fusion range of Natural Latex beds are 2 sided so you can flip and rotate the mattress getting a far longer shelf life out of it and reducing mattress settlement. You would need to bear in mind that the removable topper does not come fixed to the mattress, so if you're adjusting the bed it may slip down.

Choose a truly suitable mattress and ignore the adjustable base function

The second scenario is to ignore the wonderful yet limiting Jensen adjustable bed base you have. Leaving it in its flat position and using it as a regular base. In this scenario, you could choose from our entire range of mattresses and even choose a one-piece to avoid the annoying gap in the middle. You could also choose a zip and link mattress which feels and acts like a one-piece but is easier to turn. It avoids this gap also.
