A customer asked

Had memory foam for last 9 years. I'm 5.3 and 8.5 stone, husband 5.9 and 15 stone. I have multiple joint pain and too firm/hard mattress bruises my hips. Very hot with memory foam and recently roll together problem (mainly side sleepers) maybe because mattress is old, but very comfortable. What's the difference between hybrid and latex and which do you suggest for us please?

Hi NERrushton22,

Thanks for your question.

Memory foam has a limited shelf life and after 9 years its no doubt coming to the end of its life hence the roll together and no doubt fact that it doesn't go back to its original position any more!

Memory foam is also notorious for heat retention, compared the 100% Natural Latex which is breathable.

The big difference between Hybrid foams and latex is the breathability, Latex is super breathable and more progressive. It returns to its original shape quicker and you can use solid latex as a mattress whereas Hybrid foam always needs a support layer such as reflex foam. This in turn makes them all one sided.

Given your specifics I'd recommend you look at our Fusion 3 100% natural solid core latex which is two-sided and comes with a topper.

The mattress and topper are both tape edged and contain handles to aid turning.

This will be super progressive allowing you to turn and move far easier than memory foam and give you the sink and then support you need as a side sleeper.

Please give the office a call if you need any more guidance.

Kind Regards Gary
