A customer asked

the single beds we have in a holiday cottage need replacing. The beds get used infrequently but mainly adults and need to remain single beds. we don't want to spend an enormous amount and was thinking memory foam may be the answer but reading your comments about memory foam are now having second thoughts. if we buy a pocketsprung with topper is there a minimum number of springs there should be?

Hi Rachel,

Thanks for your question.

We wouldn't really advise that there is a minimum number of springs to look at; It's more to do with having the correct tension to suit the body weights.

For a holiday cottage with infrequent use we would advise to have a look at our Origins Pocket 1500 or Origins Pocket Reflex 1000.

Both have a medium spring tension as standard that will support body weights between 9 and 17st.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

The Origins Pocket 1500 is very much a true medium feeling model giving a slight sink but not too much. Medium models such as this tend not to alienate people either way as they are neither too soft nor too firm.

The Origins Pocket Reflex 1000 has a firmer upholstery and whilst it is firmer we get a lot of feedback that it's very comfortable at the same time. The firmer upholstery also accommodates a much wider range of body weights.

I hope this helps but if you have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact us on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Lee.
