Christine

In the last 6 years we have changed our bed 3 times and I still don't sleep well. I am 5'7 and 9 stone 5 and my husband is 5'8 and almost 13 stone. He loves our current 2400 pocket sprung mattress, but I toss and turn all night with pain in all parts of my body that rest on the mattress for more that about 20 minutes. I just don't know what to buy as he prefers firm and I prefer soft. I also find our mattress very warm as it has a layer of memory foam on top of the springs. Any suggestions would be really helpful?
Thanks.

Hi Christine,

Thank you for your question.

At the body weights provided we would match you both to a Medium spring tension if you were looking at staying with a Pocket Sprung Mattress.  The spring is what provides the support from within the mattress itself.

Given the sleep issues that you mention I would recommend you look at our Zip and Link mattresses, available in King Size upwards.  Zip and Link mattresses are 2 separate mattresses that zip together and as they act as 2 completely separate entities there is no transfer of movement between the 2 mattresses from one user to the other. If your husband does prefer a firmer feel then he always has the option to choose a Firm spring for him whereas you can choose the Medium spring for yourself.

Artisan Naturals mattress

It sounds very much that the current mattress is too firm for yourself, which is causing those pains.  We can offer our Origins or Artisan Range in Zip and Link mattresses and as such I would direct you to either our Origins Pocket 1500 or our Artisan Naturals mattress.  Both are very much medium feeling in the top upholstery layers also known as their comfort layers in their respective ranges, I.e, not too soft nor too firm.

The biggest difference is that the Artisan range are constructed from natural fibres and materials and as such tend to feel cooler than the Origins range. If overheating during sleep is an issue then the Artisan range would be ideal.  memory foam utilises body heat to be able to mould to your body this makes it a very heat retentive material and many people have overheating issues with it.

I hope this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any further queries then please don't hesitate to contact me on 0161 437 4419.  Our office hours are 8 am - 8 pm Monday to Friday and 10 am - 4 pm Saturday and Sunday.

Kind Regards

Michaela
