Best mattress for a heavier couple

Thank you for contacting us with regard to a new mattress which will provide you both with the correct level of support.   Mattress buying can be a bit of a minefield so hopefully we can steer you in the right direction.

When choosing a new mattress, you need to ensure that not only do you receive the correct level of support but also the correct level of comfort.

Support is provided by the internal spring unit and that support is dictated by body weight and height whereas comfort is provided by the upholstery fillings which are on top of the spring unit and is usually dictated by sleeping positions.

Sleeping on a mattress that does not agree with your sleeping position may cause a lot more problems than you realise. In addition to minor discomfort, it can lead to long-term back (more specifically, lower back), hip, and shoulder pain. These issues are largely caused by the parts of your body that press the most against your mattress. Different sleeping positions affect different pressure points. This means that the best mattress for you will depend greatly on your own individual needs for comfort and support.

As you are both 6ft and around 120kg, you both require a mattress with a firm level of support and this would apply to any of our mattresses.

We have two ranges of traditional pocket sprung mattresses, our Origins Range contain more man made fibres and our Artisan Range contain natural fibres so it really is down to budget as you will always pay a premium for natural fibres as longevity comes into play as they will outlast any man made fibre mattress.
