As you will be aware, the specification in respect of the John Lewis product is somewhat lacking, particularly in terms of the GSM (grams per square metre) of the upholstery. This lack of information makes it impossible to provide any opinion as to performance or comparison.

 

Similarly, it refers to there being 6000 springs in the mattress, which we assume is for king size as this is the standard in terms of specification with there being more or less if you go up or down in size. This level of springing is achieved by placing layers of mini springs within the mattress and these mini springs take the place of upholstery layers and in our opinion, do not bring anything to the table in terms of the comfort provided. In fact, in a standard King Size, 1000 pocket springs are sufficient to provide support for people of average body weight (10-16st)

 

 

We note that you have provided some detail, but have not given your specific body weight, which does make it difficult to make a specific recommendation from our ranges. Please see below for our spring tension guidelines;

We do not recommend memory foam mattresses for the reasons detailed in this article, in particular the issue with heat retention.
