A customer asked

is a double mattress OK for a bed 56" wide?

Or do I need to get a bespoke one?

Hi Linda.

Thank you for your enquiry on our website.  A double mattress is 54" wide and 75" long. Personally, I think there has to be a little extra size tolerance in bedframes and I don't think 2" is a vast amount. Double check the length of your bed frame in case it is 78" long whereby a special size mattress would be required.

Mattress Size Dimensions
Small Single 2’ 6” x 6’3” (80cm x 190cm)
Single 3′ x 6’3″ (90cm x 190cm)
Small Double 4″ x 6’3 (120cm x 190cm)
Double 4’6″ x 6’3″ (135cm x 190cm)
Continental Double 4’7” x 6’6” (140cm x 200cm)
King 5′ x 6’6″ (150cm x 200cm)
Continental King 5’3″ x 6’6″ (160cm x 200cm)
Extra King 6’0 x 6’3 (182cm x 190cm)
Super King 6′ x 6’6″ (180cm x 200cm)

If you do need a bespoke size mattress, this is a service we can provide in or Artisan natural fibre range.  Please note that there would be an additional 10% per 6-inch increment on the cost of whichever model is suitable for you and there would be no '60 day love it or return it' guarantee and any bespoke item.

I hope this was helpful and if you would like to discuss the suitability of any of our models please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419. Our office hours are 8 am – 8 pm Monday to Friday and 10 am – 4 pm Saturday and Sunday.

Kind Regards

Michaela
