Healthopaedic Cashmere 1000 mattress
My husband and I bought a Healthopaedic Cashmere 1000 mattress 8 years ago and want to buy the same again but surprise surprise that model no longer seems available - do you know which model replaced it or the closest match?
Hi Julie,
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, as your mattress has been discontinued, there is no information regarding the construction of your mattress which makes it impossible to make a comparison. Does our mattress have a label on that contains information regarding the mattress?
| Spring Tension | Wire diameter (Gauge) | Weight Range |
|---|---|---|
| Soft | 1.2mm | Bespoke Tension (Please Call) |
| Medium | 1.4mm | Upto 16 stone |
| Firm | 1.6mm | 16 stone plus |
| Extra Firm / Orthopaedic | 1.9mm | 20 stone plus |
What spring tension does your mattress have? The spring tension should be based on your height and body weight. A lot of Healthopaedic mattresses have extra firm springs, which will only support body weights over 20 stone. Anyone under this body weight doesn't weigh enough to activate the springs. If the springs are not active and moving with you, you are not supported correctly. For most people, an orthopaedic mattress is essentially a tabletop of wire that has upholstery layers on it. The advice used to be that anyone with back problems needed a firm mattress, but this is not the case. The correct support is essential.

Do you know the comfort rating of your mattress? The upholstery layers, also known as the comfort layers, determine how the mattress feels. The most suitable level of comfort should be based on your sleep positions and comfort preferences. We do not recommend firm upholstery layers for side sleepers as this can cause pressure pains in the shoulders and hips. Likewise, we do not recommend soft upholstery for front and back sleepers as this can cause lower back and neck pain.
If your mattress doesn't have a label, you may need to contact Healthpaedic to see what your mattress contains and which mattress they replaced it with.
I hope this helps, and if you would like any further information or would like to discuss your individual needs, please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.
Kind Regards
Michaela
