Help with mattress for different bodyweights
Hi, My husband is 17 stone.
I am 13 stone.
We often disturb each other at night so I sometimes sleep in the spare room with a 1000 pocket sprung mattress 'medium' which i find very comfortable on a 4 ft 6 divan.
We now need to replace the mattress on our king size sprung base bed, but I think we would probably need a 1400/1500 pocket sprung firm mattress to get the same 'feel' on the king size as I get on the 4 ft 6 and counteract the sprung base.
Am I on the right lines here?
Hi Jackie,
Thank you for your enquiry. Given that you are intending to change your current king size mattress and the fact that there is a 4 st weight differential, it may be prudent to look at a zip and link set of mattresses, which could be provided in different tensions, medium for you with a firm for your partner. This would also provide you with a separate sleeping surface making disturbance of the other party a thing of the past.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
You are correct in assuming that the sprung base will make any mattress feel softer. Without knowledge of your budget, I am unable to make a specific recommendation from our site, however, the medium upholstery in the Origins range is the Origins Pocket 1500 and the true medium of the Artisan range is the Artisan Naturals, both of which are most popular models.
I trust that this helps, if you would like any further information or would like to discuss the suitability of any of our mattresses please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.
Kind Regards
