Helping to choose a double mattress

Annie

We are a married couple aged 71 and 66. We weigh just over and just under 9 stone respectively. Just realised our mattress Myers Vancouver Pine is 16 years old. I have had some back ache recently so feel we must change mattress but find choice bewildering and are not certain about memory foam. Do not like to be too hot in bed. We have a slatted bed base. As we are both small and getting older we do need to be able to lift the mattress to rotate it occasionally and will need handles please! Have been looking at a Rest Assured Cassis Natural 1400 but would appreciate some advice.

Hi Annie,

Many thanks for your enquiry.

We have viewed the details of the Rest Assured product you refer to and would comment that the description of the upholstery is very limited in terms of the GSM (grams per square metre), the mattress is one-sided, which would suit your requirement to rotate only, but the description suggests that it is a firm mattress.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

With your particular body weights, we would suggest that a soft spring tension mattress would be more appropriate. Given the price, we wonder actually how much natural upholstery it contains?

Artisan Luxury mattress

Please view the Origins Comfort 1000, which has a standard medium tension spring unit together with layers of man-made upholstery providing an overall soft feel. Although this is a double sided mattress, regular rotating will spread the wear and tear a limit the settlement of the upholstery layers. Alternatively, if you would like natural upholstery, please view the Artisan Luxury which can have the spring unit selected to suit, in your case soft, and will provide a softer feel in the upholstery.

We trust that the above is of help to you, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419 and speak with one of our advisors.

Kind Regards.
