How to find a suitable 2 sided mattress?
I have just mailed your office with a question as I thought I'd made up my mind on which bed I wanted...but now after reading a few more threads and answers I think I've got myself completely confused. We currently have a silentnight micro pocket 2100 kingsize mattress on a wooden slatted frame. It's awful, nothing else to describe it. After less than 5 years both edges have now collapsed (I sleep on the edge and rotating it has only managed to destroy both sides). I went back to bensons, who couldn't find my original purchase (convenient) but I also got told that they would take wear and tear into account so probably wouldn't get anything from company as it only ad a 5year guarantee. It's a no turn mattress so feel that I've had less time than I should have got from a £800+ (i think) mattress. Your site is excellent with so much info it has taken me quite a while to trawl through all the questions I had. I am now going to invest in at least one mattress topper and have been looking for a two sided mattress, I didn't really want to spend over £1000 so we decided on the Origins Pocket 1500 as the latex variety is one sided (not happy at choosing that option again and your site kinda confirms that choice - why do you make a one sided version?) and at £545 we felt it was a very good price too..........but I have now been looking at the artisan range and may be swayed. I initially looked at the origins because we felt it was affordable to change it if it only lasted 5 years, and if we could extend that time by using mattress toppers even better. Could I afford a higher end mattress...yes, but by compromising on buying other things.!
Is it going to be cost and time effective to take the better quality artisan mattress?
Initially I originally only wanted to spend in the region of £800-1000, so would like your advice if possible. Kind regards Karen >
Hi Karen.
First of all the mattress you have would be a shadow of our Origins Pocket 1500.
Supplementing this with an additional topper or two would give you a perfect mattress.
If your budget can stretch to The Artisan range then even better (based on quality of component and build) - but not entirely necessary.
The Origins Pocket Latex mattress is one sided because we think the use of 6cm Latex is a better combination than splitting it to 3cm each side to make a double sided mattress.
This quality of latex is phenomenally expensive and would be cost inhibitive to adapt it to a two sided model.
Hope this helps Karen, and as you have done, please phone the office as many times as you need to till you are satisfied with your choice.
Kind Regards Gary
