Hi - great website, spent most of the morning reading up on mattresses and the afternoon at a retail park trying to get a feel for what difference it all makes. My partner is 6ft and 15 stone, I'm 5ft 2 and about 8 and a half stone. Having tried a few out, I'm leaning towards a medium - soft pocket sprung, the other half is leaning toward medium. He's had a bad back for years, and I've recently recovered from a shoulder injury. We think we've narrowed the search down to either your super King Artisan Naturals or or Artisan Luxury. We can't decide on whether we need different tensions in one mattress or a split and zip ? If we do opt for a zip and split would we need a topper to cover the split ?

Hi Ceri,

With your particular body weights, I would suggest a soft medium split. This can be accommodated in a one piece mattress in king size and above, so unless there are access issues, a one piece would be ideal. Just to clarify, if you opted for a zip and link set, the application of a mattress protector is usually sufficient to avoid any undue comfort issues arising from the split in the mattresses.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

As far as your choices are concerned, the Artisan Luxury has the softest feel in the Artisan range due to levels of upholstery used, irrespective of the spring tension opted for. I would suggest that you opt for the Artisan Naturals in a soft/medium split. If you are still unsure regarding the model, please call our office. I trust that this helps.

Kind regards,
