Is the Artisan luxury double medium firm best for us?
We are now on our fourth mattress and have yet to find a comfortable one. I weigh about 11 stone and am 5ft 5, my husband is 10 stone and about 5ft 6. We are very hot sleepers and sleep on side and back and never front. My husband has back and neck problems and we thought a firmer mattress would help because when we were on holiday the mattresses were super firm and we slept like logs. We now realise that it was just the effect of the holiday!! We have tried a John Lewis Ortho (like sleeping on concrete), an Emma (felt like the mattress was eating us), a Herdy (slightly too firm but comfy but smell of te foam awful) and a Loaf no turn firm support (much too firm). We have a slatted metal bed with plyboard over the top to provide a solid base.
We are considering the Artisan Luxury double medium and wondered if this would be the right choice?
Hi Katy,
Thanks for your question.
At your body weights you are both matched with a Medium spring tension to get the right support;
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
At your body weights neither of you are heavy enough to compress a Firm spring on the Medium and Firm split tension. You would get all the support from the top layers and this isn't what they are designed for.
The Artisan Luxury is our softest mattress in the top layers providing that luxurious sink in sensation. It has a comparable feel to the Vi-Spring Devonshire that you can find in stores such as Furniture Village, Harrods, House of Fraser or And So To Bed.
It will always be worth testing these comparison models beforehand, particularly here as you are 4 mattresses in. Ask the showroom to place the mattress on to the floor as the floor will emulate your solid top base.
I hope this helps but if you have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact me on 0161 437 4419.
Kind Regards, Lee.
