Is this the sign of a bad mattress?
Hi, can you give me a bit of advice about mattress quality please. I very recently bought a tufted mattress from dreams. I've only slept on it once and it has gone all creased a cross the surface. I don't mean creased where the tufts are made, I mean new ones on on the peaks of all the pads... Is this sign of low quality? Thankyou
Hi Tim.
Thank you for your question. Without knowing which mattress you purchased from Dreams I can not comment on the quality of the mattress.
When a mattress is made, all the upholstery layers are compacted. This is what makes a new mattress feel firmer. It takes you sleeping and moving around on the mattress to soften them. Natural settlement will start from the very first night of use and the upholstery will settle the most within the first 6 months.
The correct care and maintenance are essential for a new mattress. For our mattresses, we recommend turning them over so that the underside becomes the sleep surface once a month for the first year, north to south one month and then east to west the next. By alternating these, over four months you utilise all four sleep positions so that the upholstery layers settle evenly. After the first year, we recommend doing this every two to three months. You should have received care instructions for your mattress from Dreams, it is important that you follow them correctly as proper care and maintenance can prolong the lifespan of the mattress.
I hope this helps and if you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.
Kind Regards
Michaela
