Latex mattress topper to improve mattress

Hi Guys I have been reading all these posts which I have found very interesting and you certainly appear to know your stuff so I thought you could help me. I am fed up buying different beds and mattresses, to still not get anything suitable, as well as the obvious cost. I have had my recent Divan bed (platform top hard base and orthosleep mattress) for about 3 years so is still in good condition. I was considering getting a latex mattress topper to see if that would make it more comfortable when I came across your site. I am at the point where my whole body is sore, it used to just be my back and now my shoulders and just about every other joint in my body is aching. I have tried various medication from my doctor to try and ease the pains. I think the bed is to firm. My husband gets sore hips and lower back pain from sleeping. We have previously had a spring based mattress with memory foam thick top, we both hated. (Advised at the time that this would be suitable as I also get very hot in my bed and informed this would be the better option rather than full memory foam) I am 5ft 7 inches and roughly 10 stone and my husband is 5ft 9 inches and 13 stone. What would you suggest?

Would a latex mattress topper help?

Do I need a whole new bed or would base do with a different mattress?

Our bed size is a super king size as with our aches we appreciate the space. Please can you advise. Many thanks Sharon

Hi Sharon,

It may well be that your current mattress is too firm for you both and on that basis, the application of a topper will provide some relief from your current issues, although this may only be a short-term solution.

If your base is in good condition there is no need to replace that, however, dependent upon finances, it may be prudent to look at replacing the mattress now.

Your sleeping habits/personal preference will then determine how you would like the mattress to feel in the comfort layers. This is where you will achieve the feel you are looking for (soft/medium/firm). Do you know if you have a preference for a soft, medium or firm?

If you do not, I would advise to go out and try the;
Vispring Devonshire - Soft in upper layers - Comparable with the Artisan Luxury
Vispring Regal Superb - True medium in upper layers - Comparable with Artisan Bespoke 004
Vispring Herald - Firm in the upper layers - Comparable with the Artisan Bespoke

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

I hope that helps and if you have any further questions please get back in touch on 0161 437 4419 or info@localhost.

Kind regards.
