Looking at replacing my worn out Silentnight mattress.

Hi, I'll try to be detailed, whilst brief as possible.
Firstly, if I can be nosey: Who do you use to manufacture your mattresses?
I've been looking at Millbrook and Hypnos mattresses but I'm still a bit confused as to what I want / need and what's a good deal, what isn't etc.
I'm 14st and wanting to lose around a stone more so need to bare that in mind. I ALWAYS sleep on my side so I was thinking that a medium tension would be about right. I've recently become Pescetarian / Pesco-vegetarian, so a mattress with NO animal sourced materials would be preferable.
I think pocket springs would be best for me. I don't want sweaty memory foam as I would find it too hot in summer. A latex top layer would be ideal. Does such a thing exist? I'm looking to spend around £400-500 for a quality mattress to last me hopefully a good 8 years. I'm very much interested in the Origin comfort and Origin reflex mattresses, but the short (2 year) warranty is putting me off. Other similarly priced alternatives are offering 10 years. Is this a gimmick? Would be interested to know.
I should also point out that I plan to line the slatted base on my bed with peg board or MDF.
So that about sums it up. Any information, advise, reassurance would be great.

Hi Scott,

Many thanks for your enquiry.

All our products are manufactured to our specification by two factories in Yorkshire.

We do not make mattresses that are directly comparable to any Millbrook or Hypnos products, but having said that, our Origins Pocket 1500 is similar in feel only to the Premier Inn mattress made by Hypnos. The Origins products contain man made upholstery, which would comply with your request to avoid animal sourced products.

We note that you have provided a guide as to the amount you would be prepared to spend, but have not advised the size of mattress required, which will obviously have an impact on the price. Assuming that you are looking for a king size, and the fact that you are a side sleeper, we would suggest that you view the details of the Origins Comfort 1000, which has a medium spring, which is ideal for your body weight and soft upholstery layers to provide the comfort required.

John Ryan By Design Origins Comfort
1 750gsm Very Soft Polyester
2 500gsm Polyester Pad
3 One Inch Foam Insulator Layer
4 1000 Spun Bond Pocket Springs

This product does come with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty, although with proper care and maintenance, we expect if to last well in excess of this period. other manufacturers may provide longer guarantees, but as you suggest, this may be a gimmick and there are probably many exceptions, which make the warranty invalid. In addition to the manufacturer's warranty, all our products are covered by our 60 day "love it or return it" guarantee. We endeavour to match the product to the customer and in 96% of cases we get this spot on, which is why we are confident to offer this guarantee.

We trust that the above is of help to you, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419.

kind regards,

Amy.
