Looking for a comfortable mattress

We are looking for a new mattress but, having tried many in shops, are confused! Our current mattress is too firm and we are both suffering shoulder, neck and hip pain as a result. My husband is 6'1" and weighs 85kg, I am 5'2" and weigh 67kg. In addition, I get too hot very easily and often spend the night tossing and turning, pushing the duvet ( a cooler tog one) on and off. My husband also suffers a lot with cramp, but this may not be related to the comfort of the bed. We are side sleepers.
